Inspired by Parshotam Kaur aunty's dal panjiri, I experimented with urad dal ladoo.

The recipe of urad dal ladoo is simple and the lentil dal ladoo itself is so so yumm and addictive. Do not go by the shape, look at the ingredients.

I had never imagined urad dal ladoo to taste so yum



The recipe is simple:

Ingredients

1/4 cup urad dal powder,
2 tbsp besan,
2 tbsp ghee,
2 tbsp raw cane sugar/jaggery powder
1/4 tsp ajwain

How to make urad dal ladoo

Dry roast urad dal powder...when done, stir in besan,,,add ghee and roast for 2 minutes. Rub ajwain with both hands and mix..finally, add the sweetener ..turn off the flame..and make balls when the stuff is still hot...make sure you do not end up burnng your hands. You may need to add little more ghee while binding...if it is difficult, then add little more melted ghee..Enjoy yummyyyyyyyyy dal ladoo

Ingredients

1-1/2cup whole green moong daal, 
1cup whole urad dal, 
2-3tb spoon flaxseed flour (optional)
 2tb sp almond flour (optional) 
2/3cup ghee,
 1cup brown sugar or shakkar,
 dry fruits of your choice (almonds, kismis, magaz, grated coconut etc)

How to make dal panjiri

Clean both the daals with wet cloth or wash with water n dry it completely in sunlight, now dry roast both daal separately n grind them separately. Heat 2tb sp ghee n roast urad dal powder for few minutes (as daal is already roasted) it will change colour, transfer to a bowl, roast moong daal power in 2-3tb sp ghee and transfer to the bowl next roast flaxseed flour (if using) mix with flours add almond flour, dry fruits n mix everything thoroughly while roasting flours keep the heat low now let the mixture cool n then add sugar or shakkar and again mix every thing nicely, yummy, healthy panjeeri is ready enjoy it with hot milk (specially school going children)
