Apple pie with oats

oh yes. this Indian apple pie with oats is the best recipe. dont believe me? try it today Apple pie has always fascinated me. But i have never tried it before. I did experiment with pumpkin pie last year but i never shared it here. Apple pie has always been on my mind. This time I wanted to experiment with my kinda pie. The result is awesome and we love it ( my hubby compared it with a cake..lol..but it's not a cake.. it's a crispy flaky crust that uses oats and almonds with a flavorful apple filling) . The recipe is super simple and easy to follow and the result is amazing. It uses 1 tbsp of jaggery for apples and homemade apple sauce to sweeten the crust. I m loving it. I do not have a pie pan but it's possible to recreate a pie with a tailor-made utensil. (LOL) ingredients 1 cup= 240 ml 3/4 cup- oats flour 1/4 cup- almond flour/powder 1/4 tsp salt 1 tbsp- extra virgin olive oil 1.5 tbsp- milk 1.5 tbsp- apple sauce (homemade) For filling 1 big apple cinnamon powder 1-2 tbsp jaggery powder 2tbsp- makhana powder/oats powder 1tbsp- oil/butter (optional - I did not add)

Hello everyone, Ravneet Bhalla welcomes you back to her channel with the latest recipe on making Indian apple pie at home with all the healthy ingredients. You will need 3/4 cup of oat flour and 1/4 cup of almond flour or powder, 1/4 tsp of salt, 1 tbsp of extra virgin olive oil, 1.5 tbsp each of milk or coconut milk and 1.5 tbsp of homemade applesauce. I have already shared a quick short video on making applesauce at home. Mix it all together into a soft dough. Do not knead. Cover and keep aside for 10 minutes. Let's prepare apple filling for our easy indian apple pie recipe.

Core and slice apples. I always peel off the skin because of pesticides. Sprinkle cinnamon powder and 1-2 tbsp of jaggery powder or sweetener of choice. Now let's add makhana powder or flour. I have made this at home and it is one of the best things to get your hands on. You may use rice flour or any other gluten-free alternative. Else, use oat flour.
Toss it well so that everything coats apples. Keep aside. Now let's make our Indian apple pie crust with oats. Gather the dough once again in your hands and divide into two. Cover the rest of the dough and roll out one part as thin as possible. Take a pie pan. I do not have one so I have used my tailor-made tray dish for the purpose. Grease it with oil and dust with dry oat powder so that the pie does not stick after baking.

Make sure you roll the pie crust longer than the pie dish/pan so it fits nicely into the utensil. You can always cut off the excess dough along the sides. at this stage, preheat your airfryer or otg to 160 deg c for 5 min. If the dough breaks, worry not. Gently press with hands and it will set.  Time to arrange the apple in the pie crust. If you want, you may add 1 tbsp of butter/oil to the apples. But I do not feel the need to add excess fat to my apple pie. If you want it juicer, you may add.let's roll out the other part of the dough and cut it lengthwise like strips. Start placing the strips vertically and horizontally on the pie. This is not how they weave a basket but I have made a criss-cross design instead...that looks beautiful. we will make a basket next time :)Brush the top with milk and bake for 30 minutes at 160 deg c or until the top looks golden. Enjoy the pie warm or let it sit in the refrigerator before relishing the homemade apple pie. People love to top a pie with ice cream. I enjoy it as is. Wasn't this an easy apple pie recipe Indian? If so, who's stopping you from hitting the like, share and SUBSCRIBE button? Can we use the soaked water for millets? Does millet need to be soaked?

Do millets contain anti-nutrients? Yes, they do. In fact, all whole grains, including oats, contain phytates, which bind to minerals and make their absorption difficult for the body. Soaking is the first step toward reducing anti-nutrients from millets. Soak for at least 6-8 hours to make digestion easier. Discard the soaked water and then proceed to the next step of cooking. Remove foam from top to reduce gassy elements from millets.  How long should millet be soaked before cooking? Soaking the millets overnight is a safe practice. Soaking breaks down the phytic acid in millets or for that matter grains and nuts. Phytic acid hinders the absorption of minerals and nutrients in food, including calcium, iron, and zinc. How? Phytates bind to minerals and nutrients and make their absorption difficult in the gut. Your tummy finds it tough to digest millets in that case. So soaking millets and draining off that soaked water makes it easier on your tummy.  Are millets safe for thyroid? Does
