Is Cracked Wheat for Weight Loss Good?
Broken wheat belongs to the family of whole grain foods, which are critical to maintaining a healthy body weight.

Studies reveal that cracked wheat for weight loss is no joke. A Harvard Medical School study found that including whole grains in your diet aid considerably in weight loss compared to refined grains, such as maida or white flour. Alternatively, refined flours, including all-purpose flour or bread flour, raised the rate of metabolic syndrome, which further complicates conditions for the heart, raising risk of heart ailments, cardiovascular disease, and type 2 diabetes.

Broken wheat benefits health in more ways than one, and including whole grains lowers the rate of metabolic syndrome and thus reducing risk of heart ailments and metabolism-related problems.

Ingredients
1/2 cup dalia
1/2 cup moong masur dal (you may take either yellow lentils or pink lentils or both of equal quantity)
Vegetables of your choice (I added 1 carrot, handful of peas and beans)
Garlic 7_8
Ginger grated
1 cup water or just enough to soak ingredients in pressure cooker
1 tomato
jeera or cumin seeds
2 tbsp curd
1 tsp ghee/oil
Garam masala
green chilly
Pinch of sugar(optional)

How To Cook Cracked Wheat: Procedure

  1.  Dry roast dalia.
  2. Soak both lentils together for 1 hour. I soaked for almost 4 hours though.
  3. Chop vegetables and marinate them with salt and curd.
  4. Take a 2-or 3-liter pressure cooker.
  5. Add oil or ghee. Do NOT TURN on the flame yet.
  6. Thrown in pounded garlic and cumin seeds. Drop chopped vegetables and soaked lentils into the cooker. Spread them evenly in the cooker.
  7. Add dalia, water, salt, tomato, garam masala, and green chilly. We need enough water to ensure all ingredients are just soaked. Do not pour in too much water. It might make dalia meshy.
  8. Everything should be layered evenly.
  9. Spread a layer of coriander leaves atop. Cover the lid and turn on the flame.
  10. Keep the flame to medium.
  11. Turn off the flame after 10 mts. Let the pressure release on its own.
  12. Your yummy dalia pulav or cracked wheat porridge is ready.
  13. Sprinkle lime juice mixed with a pinch of sugar for a tangy twist.
  14. Yummy, flavorful, and packed with energy is this cracked wheat recipe.

Eggless Cake Without Raising Agents: A No Baking Powder, No Baking Soda Sponge Cake Recipe

When you are able to bake an eggless cake without raising agents, your happiness knows no bounds, right? This is exactly what I am in for today. What started as an experiment has worked out wonders for me.

I was trying to hone my cake baking skills while learning a few baking basics. Then struck this idea of baking a cake without baking powder or baking soda. A loved one is suffering from histamine sensitivity, and these chemical agents trigger urticaria, which gives me goosebumps. So I decided to go the other way round - baking an eggless cake without raising agents.

You need a light flour here - something that would effectively replace maida/all-purpose flour/refined flour/white flour. I remember one dhaba wala telling me once about how they replace maida sometimes - using a mix of jau and rice flour.

So this is exactly what I needed. This has given me one of the simplest yet tastiest cakes. Please do not change the flours, as I am unsure how any other flour would work here. I will…

Instant Aam Papad (Sada) With Jaggery: Sweet & Tangy Mango Slices

Aam papad has been a hot favorite since childhood. I do not remember how many times I have enjoyed these sweet & tangy mango sheets, though no one from my mom's side ever tried making them at home. After marriage, my mother in law, who is an awesome cook, made these savory & sweet mango pulp slices for me. I must tell that she makes the best mango pickle in the world - which is both sweet & sour. She made two buckets full for me after she found that I love aam achaar.

Who does not like sweet and tangy mango leather? Our generation has grown up relishing aam papad- wonder what all the present generation is missing out on! So this instant aam sada or papad recipe was born after my dear friend Poonam Bachhav had shared her aam papad post. Her post was the ultimate trigger for me to come up with my own instant Odia version. Poonam is the real Annapurna. I love the way she picks healthy ingredients to cook up deliciousness in the kitchen. Poonam blogs at Poonam Bachaav dot…
